Show Notes

The Solstice, whether Winter or Summer, is a moment in the spiritual and cosmic calendar, representing a powerful shift in energies. In Vedic astrology, the Solstice is not merely a change of season – it is an alignment of the cosmic forces that guides our spiritual and material growth.

Solstice is viewed as a moment to recalibrate - to release the old and embrace the new.

Life has a way of unfolding in divine timing, doesn’t it? In Vedic astrology, this divine timing is charted through the dasha system, a sequence of planetary periods that guide the flow of our karma

Each dasha brings a different vibration and set of energies.

One of the most potent periods is the Saturn/Saturn dasha. This is a time when the lessons of Saturn are amplified. If you are in this period, you may feel like everything you’ve built or believed is being tested.

[00:00:02] Hi, I'm Tara Lee and welcome to Star Being, your cosmic journey to self discovery, higher consciousness and spiritual exploration. This podcast serves as a guiding light illuminating the path to wisdom, healing and conscious living. Let Star Being ignite your inner light as we transcend limitations and tap into the universal consciousness that unites and empowers all of us. [00:00:30] Welcome to episode 18, Saturn Dasha Identity Rebirth and Solstice Energy. [00:00:37] I am recording this on my 40th solar return and it feels very significant. I've been doing a lot of reflecting over this last year and it has been the most challenging year of my life, definitely. And I wanted to dive into that and talk about from an astrology perspective around this time period that I'm currently in and hoping that I can give you some insights and just a bit of a personal update because I really want to connect deeper to you and yeah, that is now that I've had some shifts in my life, I feel more freedom around that, more freedom to share really authentically. And so please let me know if this episode resonates. [00:01:39] And so I'm going to be speaking about this identity shift, this identity rebirth that I've been experiencing this whole year. But I also wanted to speak about the solstice energy. And so whether that is winter or summer for you, it is this moment in spiritual and cosmic calendar that is a powerful shift in energy. [00:02:05] In Vedic astrology, the solstice is not merely a change of season. So this is the actual season change, not what we're told or when it is like at the first of the month, I think that they say it is, but this is actually 21st December is depending if you're northern or southern hemisphere, winter or summer solstice. So this is marking the first day of winter, the first day of summer. So this is the alignment of the cosmic forces that guides spiritual and material growth. So the solstice is a moment to recalibrate, to release old, embrace the new. It's a time to honor the cosmic cycles that really guide our lives and remembering that in the stillness of winter solstice and the abundance of summer solstice, there are lessons of transformation, renewal and this deep spiritual alignment. So this is why it is so important that we have awareness around aligning with these energies, how we can step forward in our lives with clarity, with purpose, with deep connection to the universe. And so I will be giving you the update speaking about the current cosmic energy as well. [00:03:25] So I wanted to start with speaking about this shift that I have had in my life as I reflect on my 40th solar return. So I really believe that life has this way of unfolding in divine timing. And Vedic astrology has really shown and taught me this. And so this divine timing through a Vedic lens, we look at it through what we call a dasha system. [00:03:58] And a dasha system is a sequence of planetary periods that guide the flow of our karma. So each dasha marks are what I like to say, a significant chapter in our lives. And each one carries its own energy, its lessons, it's blessings. And really understanding these periods can be like holding the key to unlock the mysteries of our soul's journey. And this is what it has been for me. And really at the heart of this system is a belief that life is not random. It is a sacred divinely orchestrated flow of experiences that is designed to awaken us up to our highest potential. [00:04:43] And just as every season brings its own rhythm and energy to the earth, each planet's influence in the dasha system brings specific themes, events, realizations. These periods aren't just markers of time. They are these sacred opportunities for us to evolve, grow, align with the cosmic rhythm of the universe. And so these dasha systems which are unique to Vedic astrology are these deeply spiritual frameworks that gives us an insight into the timing of our lives. And it is said that, you know, our soul chooses what dasha or what chapter, what planet to be governing our life or influencing our life at a certain point in our life. And so while our natal chart or our birth chart shows our potential or our unique cosmic blueprint, the dashas show us when that potential will unfold. And in many ways, dashas are like seasons in our own personal growth and evolution. [00:05:56] And so each planet is playing its own part in the overall melody of life. And so the dasha system is really revealing different aspects of our soul path, helping us become more attuned, more attuned to the rhythm of the universe. And so the planets that are ruling or influencing specific part of the journey, it is Ketu. Venus or Ketu I should say is the south node. Venus, sun, moon, Mars, Rahu, which is the north node, Jupiter, Saturn and Mercury. And so each planet's energy is distinct and it brings a particular flavor to your life. So they aren't just abstract concepts, they manifest in very tangible ways. For instance, if you're in your Venus dasha, you might find yourself in a period of deep reflection on relationships, creativity and the pursuit of beauty in your life. [00:07:02] And you also might feel called to embrace more of the feminine aspects of yourself, more Fully. On the other hand, a satin dasha like I am currently in is going to invite that season of challenge and discipline and where hard work and perseverance become this key to unlocking deeper wisdom. And so each of the dashas lasts for a set period of time, and each planet's dasha unfolds in its own rhythm. So, for example, going through them, Ketu, the south node 7 years, Venus 20 years, Sun 6 years, Moon 10 years, Mars, 7 years, Rahu 18 years, Jupiter 16 years, Saturn 19 years, and Mercury 17 years. And so these time frames represent this sacred opportunity for growth, for awakening. And while they might seem like set blocks of time, they are filled with deeper layers of, of meaning. Each of the dashes is a unique experience in itself, offers new lessons, challenges, and moments of grace. [00:08:18] And within each of these chapters there is also sub periods, so they're called subdashes. And so these are smaller cycles within the main planetary cycle. So these little shifts can really influence and evolve that overarching theme of the main dasha. So it is more layered and more nuanced. But I'm talking about this in a really like, overarching, general way. [00:08:48] And so when you're moving through each of the different phases within a season, sometimes the energy can feel lighter, other times it can feel more intense. And so this is why it's really important to know these sub periods. And that just adds a depth to the dasha experience. And again, like bringing those nuances and that, those subtleties that really refine your path. And so these dashes are more than just time periods. They are these cosmic invitations, invitations to grow, to awaken, to align more fully with your divine purpose that you are meant to fulfill in this lifetime. They are revealing the timing of your karmic lessons, showing you when it's time to push forward, when it's time to reflect, when it's time to surrender. And they help us to understand what, not just the what of our lives, but the why. [00:09:46] And so each dasha brings a different vibration, a set of energies. So Saturn life can feel like we're on this low, slow, slow climb towards something greater. But Saturn really requires this hard work, discipline, facing parts of ourselves that are not fully aligned with our soul's highest expressions. And these challenges give us this wisdom, give us strength. Without. The soul needs to build something lasting and meaningful. [00:10:23] And so coming back to where I am in my Saturn, Saturn dasha. So my main period is Saturn and my the subdasha is Saturn. And so Saturn is often called the planet of karma. It doesn't give us what we want, it gives us what we need. [00:10:44] And when Saturn moves through your life, it is a powerful time of transformation. [00:10:51] This planet will test your limits and invite you to face your deepest fears and your deepest challenges so you can let go of your attachments that no longer serve your highest good. And this is definitely what I have experienced this year. [00:11:11] And so going a little bit more into that. Saturn's energy is not about ease, it's about growth. [00:11:20] It's peeling away the layers of illusion to reveal what is actually real, what is true. And so Saturn is the work in your life about building a strong, lasting foundation. [00:11:38] And if you've ever felt the weight of your world on the shoulders, this is the Saturn energy. And it is urging you to become the person who can carry that weight with grace and with wisdom. [00:11:53] And so I am grateful to be in this journey of identity shift, shifting beyond the labels. [00:12:08] But it has been deeply intense. [00:12:13] Deeply intense. Like, I feel there's multiple times during this year that I, my knees hit the floor. [00:12:25] And I don't want to scare you about this period at all. [00:12:31] I. When I first started learning Vedic astrology, I looked at this time period that I'm currently in right now and I was concerned. I was deeply concerned. [00:12:46] And Saturn can be like quite frightening. And. [00:12:54] Yeah, so I, I really re reprogrammed that. But I have to say, coming out that other side now, emerging somewhat, I, I have to say it was a lot harder than I expected. [00:13:11] And this is the potent period of the Saturn, Saturn Dasha that I've experienced. It's a time when the lessons of Saturn are really amplified. [00:13:23] It's a time where you feel like everything you've built or everything you believed in is being tested. [00:13:30] It's like Saturn is coming into your life and saying, what is real, what is sustainable, what do you truly value? [00:13:38] And it's this karmic audit, this sacred moment where you have to let go of what is no longer serving you and step into the fullness of who you're becoming. [00:13:49] And this period for me was a time of loss, but a time of deep transformation at the same time. [00:14:03] And just like that, Phoenix must burn in the fire to be reborn. Sun's energy breaks down your illusions so that you can, you can rise into the new, more authentic version of yourself. [00:14:21] And so as Saturn was really working its magic with me this year, my identity really, yeah, had a transformation and so many shedding layers of that loss of self and shedding old identities and roles and labels that were no longer resonating with my soul truth. And I was asking those questions, you know, who am I really? Beyond the labels, beyond the roles, beyond the expectations placed on me by the world. Who am I at my core? And this was so uncomfortable, losing that sense of self. [00:15:05] And for me this was in quite a few aspects. So it's really interesting when I look at the start of the year, how this began. I actually was in Rome and I had my passport stolen and we can look at the spiritual significance of that someone actually taking my identity. And so I feel that this year has really been about, yeah like all around identity and who. Who am I? And this invitation to return to my authentic essence. Even when I thought that I was being authentic, like it even stripped, stripped that and really has given me this, this strength now it's, you know, it's redefined like my self worth. Like I've gone through things that, yeah, like it just, just crumbled. And so my 12 year career, my corporate career in strategic marketing and communications that I had given up a lot of personal sacrifices, like that was my path, that was my, my drive, my passion that I dedicated so much of my life to. It wasn't just a job, it was so much of my life, so much of my identity that I never thought I would step away from my corporate career. Never. [00:16:42] And it's just so interesting though, when I had to be in integrity with myself that it was no longer in alignment. It was no longer in alignment to me. [00:17:01] And so yeah, this ended for me. And that was a huge calibration which I'm still recalibrating from because it was so yeah, the way that it all unfolded, it was almost, it was one of my beautiful spiritual friends said the universe loves you so much that it made it that there was no other option for you. Like there was no other option and you'll never go back. [00:17:33] And I was like, wow. And if I hadn't been put in this, yeah, I would have never, I would have never left. [00:17:44] And so I've been reflecting on that a lot and it was, was very dis. Dis orientating because yeah, it's, it, it was my identity. I was wrapped up in that, on how hard I worked and the outcomes that I created for the brands and the companies and that success. And yeah, I didn't realize until I was stripped of that how much of that was actually, yeah, that, that ego. And so yeah, it was that opportunity to really return back to myself. [00:18:26] And there's other like layers that happened throughout the year. I Lost my, my dog. And I had this dog since the start of my relationship with my husband. And this dog, Rusty, was one of my stepchildren. And losing him felt like the end of my stepmothering chapter because my stepchildren are big kids now. And so Rusty was the last of my children kind of leaving, my stepchildren leaving. And I didn't realize how much I had wrapped up my identity in that as well. And just things like that throughout the year that really, yeah, really rattled me and, yeah, brought me, brought me to my knees. And the same thing around my, my home. If you follow me on Instagram, you'll see that I have these beautiful Buddhas and my home is my sanctuary. And I'm very connected to the land there. And I never thought I would leave this property and I did. And that felt like the security, loss of that, like my sanctuary, my safe place was again, that unraveling for me. And it was interesting how Saturn just was bringing in these powerful lessons around, you know, asking me to look beyond the surface, beyond the material, and get me to question what, what was truly valuable in my life. [00:20:31] And so this has been a period that has really forced me to confront these rooted beliefs that tie that sense of value to your external achievements and possessions. [00:20:47] And Saturn here has really helped me rediscover the truth of, yeah, the, that true abundance coming from within. [00:21:00] And it's not found in what you own, but who you are. And it's that inner strength, that self respect. [00:21:09] Oh, that self respect. I really used my voice this year and really coming back into alignment with my deepest values. [00:21:24] And so that crumbling that happens over this year has really helped this start of rebuilding of my identity. And I don't even think it's rebuilding. I think it's actually remembering. I think it is actually more of a remembrance. [00:21:45] I think the greatest thing that I've learned about this time frame is that Saturn's mission is really to help you build something that is solid, something that withstands the test of time. Saturn is about a legacy. So even those areas of my life that felt like they were crumbling, that all those old ways of thinking, not seeing those as failures, but looking at them as not destruction, but this divine reordering. [00:22:23] And I really feel that it is a call to build a life that is in alignment with my highest soul's purpose. [00:22:35] And yeah, it's about thriving and authenticity and integrity. [00:22:42] And Saturn is always clearing away the old to make room for the new. And so I wanted to invite you to this reflection. [00:22:53] You know, you might Feel like you're stepping into a new chapter. This year is actually a Saturn year and I feel, you know, working with my clients over the year, a lot have felt like this or whether it's a significant life change or something for you, taking a moment to reflect on this sacred process. So what old identities or beliefs are you ready to release? [00:23:22] How can you step into a more authentic version of yourself free from external validation? [00:23:30] What does true wealth and abundance look like for you in this new chapter? [00:23:36] So, yeah, that is my update. And so if you want to know more about your dasha periods, how to find that I might create a resource or maybe message me on Instagram. I would love to help you go deeper in that. I really think that is, like I said, such an important key to unlock where we are in our soul journey. So important. And it has really helped me remain mindful and given me strength as well to understand the energy and what lessons and that this is tied to karma and how I can, as much as I can, gracefully move through it. [00:24:25] And in Vedic astrology, yes, we offer remedies, you know, we offer like yagyas, gemstones, mantras, like colors and certain rituals to help alleviate some of this. This is why we have VED astrology very much for being able to remedy some of the more challenging energy. But I'm also mindful that I don't want to defer any of this karmic load karmic luggage onto just another lifetime. I don't want to defer it. I am in this lifetime to burn through as much karma as I can. And so this might sound very saddest, but I want to embrace his karma. And yeah, I, I have the strength. [00:25:23] And so now I'm going to talk about the solstice that we have coming up in this potent energy. So December 21, like I mentioned, this solstice is a powerful cosmic moment and it has this deep spiritual significance. And I want to go further into the actual astronomical weather of where this is. So when we have solstice, the sun is going to be in the constellation of Sagittarius and it's going to be in the Nakshatra Mola Moon at the time of solstice is going to be in Leo in the Pruva Falghini Nakshatra. [00:26:07] And so this overall is energies of introspection, transformation and joyful celebration. And so with Sagittarius energy first, this energy is one of exploration, wisdom, aligning to higher truths. Sagittarius is the seeker of truth. It's Ruled by the planet Jupiter. And it has this spirit of the seeker. It wanting, wants us to aim for enlightenment, expand our horizon. This is why it's normally an adventure seeker, like traveling, things like that, and really step into our purpose. So the symbolism of the Sagittarius is an archer, half a human, half horse. And it symbolizes that balance between the earthly and the divine. [00:26:58] The arrow of the archer is always pointed skyward. So it's reminding us to rise above challenges, to pursue spiritual growth. This is a time to reflect on the bigger picture of your life. Sagittarius is going to encourage you to embrace curiosity, seek knowledge, and really get in touch with your personal dharma. So where are you heading and how does it align to your soul's purpose? Sagittarius is going to ask this, these esoteric questions of you. [00:27:31] When we go deeper into this energy, it is in the moolah Nakshatra and mula means root. And this Nakshatra invites you to strip away illusions, confront uncomfortable truths and this uprooting of anything that is misaligned with your spiritual path. And so mullah is symbolized by a tired bunch of roots. And this is reminds us of that importance of going deep, going to the very foundation of our being to uncover what is holding you back. [00:28:14] It's about releasing old karmic patterns, outdated beliefs, and anything that is no longer serving your highest good. And so this process can feel intense. But that ultimate goal is for renewal and spiritual realignment. [00:28:31] The moon is in Leo and this gives, adds the energy of more lighter, more celebratory energy. And so it reminds us this energy that spirituality doesn't have to be heavy. It can be joyful, it can be radiant, it can be heart centered. And so Leo is all about confidence and self expression. So this is a time for creative pursuits, connecting with loved ones, gratitude. And this is really going to balance that intensity of the moolah energy. So leaning into that joy and that celebration. I also want to note that we currently have a Mars and a Jupiter retrograde. So this is, you know, reflective energy. So Mars retrograde in particular, there's this focus inward, asking you to reevaluate your actions, your intentions. Are you moving from a place of alignment or are you pushing forward out of habit? [00:29:39] And whereas the Jupiter retrograde is this invitation for reflections on lessons that you've learned this year, it's a time to revisit your visions, refine your goals and ensure that they are rooted in wisdom and authenticity. So retrogrades with these retrogrades are really Beautifully aligned with the solstice energy because it's offering this sacred pause to reflect, realign and redirect your energy. [00:30:12] And so that spiritual energy of the solstice is, you know, it's a gateway between cycles. And so the winter solstice marks the return of the light, a moment of rebirth and renew. And in the summer solstice, it's that it celebrates our vitality, our abundance, and the fullness of life. And so what you can do to align with this energy is reflect on your roots. So this is with that mula energy. So spend time meditating or journaling on what feels out of alignment, what beliefs, patterns or situations need to be uprooted, and trust that letting go creates that fertile ground for new growth. Like I mentioned and setting some expansive intentions. Sagittarius really asks you to aim high. So use this time to connect with your purpose. Envision the life that you want to create. What truths are you ready to embody? This is a really good time to create a vision board, or if you call it action board or vibration board. Because with the moon in Leo, that creativity and with Sagittarius energy, I just think this is the perfect combination. So I really want to encourage you to do that. I was looking at my 2024 board and I was sharing some of my actual images. And then the images that materialize, the things that materialize in my life, and my friends were like, okay, I'm creating a vision board this year. [00:31:48] And I wasn't even, yeah, like, specifically putting my energy on that. So I'm really excited to do that as well. And also aligning with this energy, celebrating joy and creativity, like I said. So, yeah, creating some of that. A balance between introspection and joy. So activities that really light your heart up. So if it's creating art, connecting with loved ones, or, you know, just appreciating the beauty in life, and then lastly, aligning with this energy to honor the pause of the retrograde energy. So perhaps that this is an opportunity for you to slow down, to reflect, refine your path, and use the stillness to connect deeply with your inner wisdom. That's what this energy is deeply calling for. [00:32:43] So I hope that this has been insightful. I hope that you have taken away something from this episode and I hope that you really, yeah, reconnect and reflect on your last year and the growth that you've had and use this energy of the solstice to release and really step forward into the next cycle with clarity and confidence and an open heart. [00:33:20] So if you would like to work with me deeper. I am currently taking one on one clients for next year. I have also opened my North Star offerings to my current clients only. I also have some beautiful collaborations coming up in the new year which I am so excited to share with you and as always, thank you for listening and I am sending you so much love and I'll speak to you very soon. Thanks for tuning into Star Being. May the wisdom shared resonate in your soul. Until next time, stay connected and keep reaching for the stars. This is Star Being signing off.
